2015: the year i moved from North Carolina to North Texas
also the year I met The Amicks, the family who I spent my last 2.5 years with.
The father and their son, almost approaching his 3rd birthday, met with me in late January of 2015. While unsure to take the nannying job (we sill laugh about this today) I had fallen in love with the family by Wyatt’s 3rd birthday, May 2nd.
Over the past 2.5 years, I have never spent so much time with a child as I had with Wyatt… not other kids I babysat or my nieces and nephews.
The Amicks quickly assumed the position of being my family. I was there more than I was at my own house, and eventually I started overnight babysitting for them.
The amount of time spent with them fueled my happiness and support system that I carry today, which brings me to recap some memories Wyatt and I have had over every single one of the past 130 weeks.
As a child of 5 years old, I have yet to meet one that matches his intellect, sense of humor. If you are my friend on Snapchat, you would know that we were best friends.
After our last week together in North Dallas while they were packing up the house, I was invited to stay with them in their new Atlanta home. We unpacked boxes, played in them, ate breakfast on the patio every morning, and had many family dinners.
We will continue to keep in touch by being pen pals as he learns to read and write throughout his kindergarten year.
Every time I send a pen pal letter, he will get a couple photos i have printed out of him for his photo album.
